Students Harvest a Healthy Assortment

Annually, students in Mrs. Gorcyca’s kindergarten classroom get to experience gardening firsthand.

Students and their parents met Mrs. Gorcyca at Anson B Nixon Park this fall and helped harvest the vegetables to be donated to the Kennett Community Food Cupboard. This year the student/parent teams harvested 70 pounds of fresh vegetables for our local Kennett community. What a memorable learning experience!

P-4 Likes Bread and Butter

I like bread and butter, I like toast and jam… That’s an old song but what isn’t old is the fresh butter students in P-4 made right before Thanksgiving. What a yummy lesson!

Mrs. Drago had each student participate in the churning of the cream into butter by shaking a container full of the sweet, thick liquid. Students at the beginning of the churning process shook the container with ease. As the butter, began to form, the shaking got a little more intense. The reaction to the churning process was priceless… BUTTER!

After all of their hard work, each student was rewarded with a slice of bread to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
