Information Literacy within the Kennett Consolidated School District
The mission of the Kennett Consolidated School District’s (KCSD) information literacy program is to ensure that students and staff members are effective users of ideas and information, empowering them to become informed and responsible contributors to society.
The information literacy program within the KCSD provides all individuals with a process for learning that is transferable among content areas both in an academic environment and in the real world.
In the Mary D. Lang Kindergarten Center library media center thousands of books for the children to explore. Students visit the library weekly for book exchanges, but may exchange their books on a daily basis.
Mrs. Kristi Pizzini, Mr. David Livergood, and Mr. Brian Rafferty all serve as librarians.
The Mary D. Lang library media center’s mission is to ensure that students are effective users of ideas and information. This mission is accomplished by:
- Encouraging reading and the love of literature
- Providing physical access to materials in a variety of formats.
- Providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas.
- Working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
