ImageInformation Literacy within the Kennett Consolidated School District

The mission of the Kennett Consolidated School District's (KCSD) information literacy program is to ensure that students and staff members are effective users of ideas and information, empowering them to become informed and responsible contributors to society.

The information literacy program within the KCSD provides all individuals with a process for learning that is transferable among content areas both in an academic environment and in the real world.

In the Mary D. Lang Elementary School library media center there are over 17,000 books for the children to explore. Students visit the library weekly for book exchanges, but may exchange their books on a daily basis.

Mrs. Kristi Pizzini is the Librarian and Mrs. Lopez serves as the Librarian Assistant.

The Mary D. Lang library media center's mission is to ensure that students are effective users of ideas and information. This mission is accomplished by:

  • Encouraging reading and the love of literature
  • Providing physical access to materials in a variety of formats.
  • Providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas.
  • Working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students.

Special programs in the library this year:

  • Reading Incentive Program for Grades K5
  • Reading Olympics
  • Enrichment classes for 4th and 5th Graders
